General Priesthood Session-April 2010

So we were sitting about 14 rows back, just to the left of dead center, a clear view of the pulpit in the conference center. I can’t recall a better priesthood session in recent memory. Elder Oaks, on healing with his usual careful exposition. Elder Rasband on missionary assignments, was informative and fun. Bro. Beck on new YM prog. Pres. Uchtdorf on patience. My all time favorite of his. Pres. Eyring on diligence. Also a great talk. Pres. Monson on, sort of the Strength of Youth talking points. A couple of trademark Monson stories. The music, it was just fantastic in my opinion. Really nice arrangements. Excellent voices. Fine directing. And then ice cream at Leatherby’s after.

Joseph would have approved, I think. Provided he was properly acclimated first. ;)

By the way, you watch it here.

Amen. I really enjoyed the story Elder Oaks shared about the father who never gave a blessing before. The Spirit moves people all the time.

“Attended” this session remotely at Kaneohe Hawaii stake center with a surprisingly large gathering of the priesthood. One difference was that we convened at 6pm Hawaii time; whereas we usually meet in the midafternoon.

A wonderful session. All the talks were edifying and the music was especially moving.

Elder Oaks has addressed this topic several times now it seems. This one had elements in common with his 2001 talk on miracles.

    Thanks for the link W.V.

  5. ricke says:

Any idea about which talk by SWK he was referring to?

  6. W. V. Smith says:

Didn’t think about that ricke. I don’t know. Maybe he gives a footnote.

Looks like wordpress killed the link I put up to the beta broadcast site, fixed that, but noticed that good ole church programmers failed to make their “update” work with firefox or safari. Wonder what it does work with now? IE 3? ;-)

  8. W. V. Smith says:

Update works now, but in stealth mode. It doesn’t tell you that it’s finished uploading the “new” viewer and it disappears the upload bar. That doesn’t show up at all on Safari. Follow the rules guys.

  9. W. V. Smith says:

And no, after watching it back, the brother who gave the opening prayer, just did not say “amen.” Odd. Also, he appeared to be reading the prayer off the prompters. Must be a nerve-racking experience for some.

I notice that you don’t have to use their “player” now, mac people can use the quicktime itunes icon and get the whole thing in mp4. Nice. Plays in Safari.
